Book tours at the historic Bodleian Libraries and walk the famous streets, see landmarks and visit the University’s most famous colleges, from Christ Church to Corpus Christi College.
Discover endless museums with stories to tell, from the Museum of Natural History to the world’s oldest purpose-built public museum, the History of Science Museum. Don’t miss The Botanic Gardens, which offers a diverse collection of plants in the oldest botanic gardens in Britain.

Oxfordshire isn’t just museums and history, the local area has fun activities on offer for all interests.
Discover a new skill at Reload Reading, only 20 minutes away, where you can learn archery and clay pigeon shooting. They offer one hour sessions for up to 6 people per session, it’s a fabulous day out for friends and family. Book a personal or group wildlife walk with GG Wildlife Experiences and explore nature in a whole new way. Or venture 40 minutes away to the Hell-Fire Caves, where an open cast quarry has been the place for paranormal stories and lost histories since the 1700’s.
Visit furry friends at Beale Wildlife Park and meet the alpacas, otters, zebras and so much more, all only 20 minutes away. A 40 minute drive away is Wellington Country Park, the place for a family-friendly day out, with an animal farm park offering petting sessions, mini-golf, a miniature railway and lots of adventure play grounds.
Only a one-hour drive away is the famous Thorpe Park, offering theme park thrills and water rides for all adventure seekers. Scream and laugh on the classic rides, and if you’re brave enough try the themed rides, from SAW and the Walking Dead to Derren Brown’s Ghost Train and the brand new Labyrinth, the UK’s first Black Mirror experience.

For an idea that is close to The Springs why not explore the area with a national trail. Part of The Ridgeway National Trail passes through the golf course so it would be a great thing to do during your stay. This trail was actually the inspiration behind the name of our restaurant in The Springs and it is extremely popular for walking, cycling and horse riding for locals and tourists.
There are endless places to explore in Oxfordshire, a county rich in history and legend. The Springs is perfectly placed to discover all the things to do. With Basildon Park only 20 minutes away, this beautiful 400 acre estate was saved from demolition in the 1950’s and has a stunning 18th Century house, along with beautiful gardens and parkland, including peaceful trails and picnic places for all to enjoy.
Grey’s Court is also only 20 minutes away and has a fascinating and varied history waiting for you, with a 16th Century mansion on site, a Great Tower from the 14th Century and a very rare Tudor donkey wheel, all in the grounds.
Visit the Wallingford Museum, only a ten minute drive away, and learn all about this fascinating market town and see the Saxon’s royal castle. As the home of Agatha Christie, Wallingford has a range of murder mystery tours and even celebrates Agatha Christie day every 11th September. There is a Victorian street scene to explore and you’ll be able to travel through time with the Wallingford Story and the other interactive exhibits. A museum filled with wonderful stories waiting to be told.
